Deutz Allis 9190 Specs

Just let me analyze here the Deutz Allis 9190 specs a bit, I wanted to arrange the documentation and this is the same as the AGCO Allis 9190. There are no differences in the specs, as we can see in the details and the results of Nebraska tests.

Engine

The 9190 is built around a Deutz BF6L 913F–family, air-cooled, 9.6 L six-cylinder diesel. The engine’s dry-sump cooling fins make it lighter than a comparable water-cooled block and eliminate coolant-freeze worries—one reason the tractor sold well in Canada and the US northern plains. Rated PTO output is 193 hp and Nebraska tests confirmed virtually the same figure on the PTO-shaft and 170 hp at the drawbar.

Transmission

Power reaches the axles through an 18-speed “powershift-within-range” gearbox sourced from White. Three on-the-go powershift steps live inside each of the six synchronized main gears, giving operators a near-seamless spread from 2.2 km/h (1.4 mph) up to 31 km/h (19 mph) in 2WD row-crop trim.

Hydraulics & Hitch

Closed-centre hydraulics pump 28 gpm (106 l/min) at 2 500 psi to two or three rear remotes. The Category III/II three-point hitch lifts roughly 4.5 t at the balls, enough for a six-row cultivator or 12-row planter.

Dimensions & Weight

Wheelbase sits at 2.92 m (115 in) on MFWD models; shipping weight ranges 16 600–18 700 lb depending on axle and duals.

Is the Deutz-Allis 9190 the Same as the AGCO-Allis 9190?

Yes—mechanically they are identical. When German engine maker KHD bought the Allis-Chalmers farm-equipment business in 1985 it created the Deutz-Allis badge, marrying Deutz air-cooled engines to American frames. In 1990 the US management team executed a buy-out, forming AGCO Corp.

The tractors still rolled out of Coldwater, Ohio, but from model year 1991 the hood decal read AGCO-Allis in North America, while South-American machines wore Deutz-Allis through 2000. Power-plant, transmission and part numbers never changed.

The Deutz-Allis 8070

A generation older, the 8070 closed out the Allis heritage in 1985-88 and carried into early Deutz branding. It used an Allis-Chalmers 7.0 L, water-cooled six-cyl and a 20×4 power director transmission, good for 171 hp PTO. Weight was similar to the 9190 but wheelbase a full 23 cm shorter, making it handier for 12-row cultivation.

The Deutz-Allis 9150

Slotting below the 9190, the 9150 shares frame, cab and transmission but swaps in the Deutz BF6L 912, a 6.1 L air-cooled six producing 150 hp PTO. Lighter and thriftier on fuel, it fit 6-row forage harvesters or 1 000 gal liquid manure tanks where the 9190 was overkill.

The Deutz-Allis 9170

The 9170 bridges the gap, using the same 9.6 L Deutz as the 9190 but detuned to 172 hp PTO. Farmers liked its balance: enough torque for a 30-ft cultivator without the fuel bill of the flagship. Hydraulics and gearbox mirror the 9190, so many dealers still cannibalise 9170s for hard-parts when 9190 spares run short.

Deutz-Allis Tractor Line-up (Mid-1980s – Early-1990s)

The move from Deutz-Allis to AGCO-Allis in 1991 kept every model intact; only decals and the corporate support network changed. By 1993 AGCO had started phasing in the 9600-series with power-shift transmissions, and by 1995 the last air-cooled Deutz powerplants disappeared from US row-crop tractors—cementing the 9190’s status as the swan-song of big, radiator-less American farm tractors.

The table shows where each model landed and why the 9190 sat at the top of the conventional row-crop range just before AGCO dropped the Deutz name in North America.
